Remote Backup

In storage terminology, a remote backup refers to an online managed backup service for backing up data to a remote, cloud-based server (“cloud backup”).

To update or restore a cloud backup, customers need to use the service provider’s specific client application or Web browser interface. Files and data can be automatically saved to the cloud backup service on a regular, scheduled basis, or the information can be automatically backed up anytime changes are made.

What does Remote Backup Software mean?

Remote backup software enables backing up data and applications, usually on a third-party managed remote location or infrastructure.

It enables storing, managing and retrieving backup data to and from an offsite storage location.

Remote Backup Software [explained]

Remote backup software primarily bridges a connection between local network/IT environments with a remote backup location. The backup data is copied on a scheduled or specific routine by the backup software and is transferred and copied to the remote location over WAN, Internet or VPN connection.

The remote location can be private or public cloud storage, managed or rented data center, or a similar managed storage facility. The remote backup software can copy and restore backup data from the backup location to the local network/system when required.
